New Partnership Seeks To Increase Presence Of Small UK Limited Companies Online

I must confess that I am rather fond of Google, and this new venture they have committed to with PayPal and BT only reinforces my approval of the company. With Google and PayPal being two of the largest online companies in the world and BT being one of the biggest household company names in the UK, a joint venture between them to increase UK limited company presence online can only be a positive move.

The “Getting British Business Online” campaign is seeking to raise both the awareness of using the web to promote and conduct business but also to assist small businesses in getting an online presence. The best news is that it’s a free service. I know how rare it is to see the word “free” on anything service that you’re getting and actually get something for free - but this one is real.

Nowadays, e-Commerce (being able to trade online without having a physical shop front) is becoming more and more a necessity of business. Ten years ago, the idea of running a business either partly or completely online was still only a tiny idea. Companies like eBay, Amazon and PayPal all started out as online presence companies with only back office functions and warehouse logistics to keep them running. Look where they all are now - sometimes it just takes that little idea and getting it out to the world to make it a big success story.

The prospect of setting up and running your own website can often sound quite daunting especially when anyone uses technical jargon like “CSS style sheets, HTML and Java”. The GBBO is looking to help small businesses jump that hurdle with simple to use solutions that don’t require a degree in Information Technology (IT).

Although here at St Matthew, we specialise in accounting, we also know a lot about online presence - you found us here online after all. If you’re a start up company or just a small business looking for opportunities to expand, talk to one of our advisors and we can discuss the best options and even assist you in registering for the GBBO.
