London show aims kick-start new companies

On May 19 and 20 a forum and exhibition takes place which will see many of the UK's top companies on hand to assist all budding entrepreneurs in their quest to start or expand their businesses. The Business Startup Show takes place at The London ExCel and is acknowledged as one of the UK's best forums for Britain's Small business sector. The show will contain exhibition stands, tutorials and workshops hosted by Britain's top companies, entrepreneurs and business leaders.

The event is sponsored by Lloyds TSB and will host over 140 seminars and over 200 exhibition stands. Keynote speakers include the BBC's "Dragons Den"stars Doug Richard and Rachel Elnaugh. West Ham United Football Club Chairman David Gold will also be a keynote speaker as well as Members of Parliament,  Gordon Banks MP and Stephen Lloyd MP. Both Parliamentarians have a background in business, so an opportunity may exist to aim your questions at the very top of British politics. And get meaningful answers.

Topics and subjects include the increasing importance of social media, SEO, Offline PR and "Starting in Retail". Both One to one mentoring and Peer to peer mentoring are also available. New features for the show include "Inspiring Women" and some tried but true favorites like "Starting an Internet business".

My personal favorite is the "Pitch and pay" event. Do you have a great idea but no cash to put that idea into action? Would your business benefit from a massive cash injection? What if that investment also came with a guarantee of continued support from a successful entrepreneur? You get 5 minutes to pitch your idea to a panel of millionaire entrepreneurs. If they like your idea or plan and its the best, you win! It could be best 5 minutes of your life. Another popular one may be Simply Business Chief Executive Jason Stockwood's seminar. He will be panel chairman discussing effective ways to market a startup with a restricted budget.

Tickets for the event are free.
